Rupa

Rupa is the prince of a world of total darkness, giant mushrooms, and flying pigs. It was arranged by Rupa's great-grandfather that he would marry Lum. Rupa never met her but he was still intent on marrying her, if only to escape from his bullying friend and erstwhile paramore Karula. Rupa's homeworld likes in the Dark Dominion, a galaxy without a sun, as such his people deplore the light and live in almost total darkness. They have an anglerfish-like light that emanates from their forehead. His black robes have caused him to be mistaken as a trashbag on Earth, where he arrives seemingly out of nowhere in order to kidnap Lum and force her into marriage, causing an all-out war between his people, the oni and Earth.

The Meaning Behind the Name - ルパ

Rupa's name has no discernable subtext to it. It is written in katakana (like Karula, Lum, Rei and other alien names).

Voices: Kaneto Shiozawa Kaneto Shiozawa is a prolific voice actor who was the original actor of Ninzaburo Shiratori in Detective Conan, Yoichiro Tatsumiya in Doomed Megalopolis, Rei in Fist of the North Star, Prince Kirin in Ranma 1/2, Geronimo in Kinnukiman, D in Vampire Hunter D, and Prince Demande in Sailor Moon. He passed away after a fall in his home in 2000.
